Itza (Itzamaray) Garcia is a Mexican photographer based in New York. She uses her work as a way to further add representation that connects to social issues, such as identity and immigration statuses. She is currently working on documenting the Latin community in Rockland County and throughout New York City, to give a further view of young Latinos in New York from a first-person narrative using audio. Through her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology she further developed a passion for documentary and fine art photography while experimenting with audio and video as well. Itza is graduating this Spring from the BFA program in Photography and Visual Arts with a minor in Art History. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in the Northeast, including the SUNY Fall show at the SUNY Art Gallery, Albany, NY, the Governor Cuomo Office in Washington, DC and at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
